Users of WhatsApp may not be able to use it in 2021 unless they agree to new terms & conditions of this Facebook’s owned app, according to wabetainfo.

Updated terms & conditions are expected to be released before the mid of Feb 2020. In case users do not agree to new terms & conditions, they might lose all their data on WhatsApp. The expected date of release is 8th Feb 2021 which may be subject to change.

By selecting the ‘Agree’ option, the users will be able to continue using WhatsApp by accepting the new terms and conditions.

According to Wabeta, the new and updated terms & conditions might include information on how users’ data is being processed by WhatsApp and businesses could use Facebook-hosted services. From now onwards, WhatsApp might use the in-app feature for announcements to users. These announcements will not be advertisements, but probably about new features, changes, news, and information about WhatsApp, according to wabetainfo.

These announcements will probably not be in the form of chat, rather these announcements will appear in-app banner form that might require users to take an action or divert the user to go to an external link to read those announcements.

This announcement section will appear after the release of new terms & conditions.

According to the source, WhatsApp has already released updates for Android & iOS that show compatibility with the new feature.

Users, in case of disagreement with the new terms & conditions, may have to suspend their accounts or they might lose their data on whatsapp.
